Permaculture International Aid and Development Workers – Conference
Warm Greetings,
On behalf of the PIL/PA Board and convenor of a new look Permafund committee, we’d like to announce this special event below. We are also in early discussions with the local Blue Mountains Permaculture group to put on a film night on the Wednesday evening at this event that will feature the promotional film made by Terry Leahy and his sister of the remarkable story of Chikukwa in Zimbabwe.
Looking forward to making contact with many of you through this event.
Kind Regards
John Champagne
The Permafund Board invites you to a gathering for people interested in aid and development.
What does good aid look like, and how can the Permaculture movement do more?
Two days to share, discuss and plan. 4-5 April, Katoomba NSW.
For many years permaculture people have been using permaculture ideas in aid and development projects, in Australia and internationally, there’s a huge range of experience within the movement.
The Permafund Committee is keen to support this work and the people undertaking it and this gathering will be a time to hear some of what’s happening and to consider how best to increase our organisational capacity, including how best to use the Permafund structure. The two days will have a varied program with time for personal reports and time for discussing organisational questions. One output from the meeting will be a contribution to APC11 in NZ on 11-15 April.
The nature of aid and development work is that it’s often isolated and busy. Often the passing on of knowledge and the building of organizational learning suffers from a lack of time and attention. This event is intended as an opportunity to fill some of the learning gap. Getting together can be a great knowledge transfer moment and a strong personal support for busy people.
So here’s your invitation if you’ve been working on a project and would like to tell it’s story, or set up a photo display, or lay out some useful materials to sell – please consider attending.
