Report to food summit warns of lean times for Australia

Australia has long seen itself as the land of plenty – a giant food bowl producing more than enough to feed every one of Australia’s 22-and-a-half-million mouths, and some left over for export.
But for how much longer? A report presented at a Sustainable Food Summit in Melbourne today warns of the danger of taking food production for granted.
The report sets out three possible scenarios for the year 2030, and in all of them, Australia will struggle to produce enough food to maintain a good balanced diet for each Australian.
